One thing is already clear about Barack Obama

Less than 48 hours after Barack Obama has become the President Elect, there is one thing already clear about him, he is not what people had expected, and there is no way he can follow through on everything he said.

Just hours after news of his election he began to assemble his White House team by extending an offer to Rahm Emanuel to be his chief of staff. Emanuel is far from Obama's the mantra of Change and unification. Obama's decision has raised some eyebrows within the Democratic party, with some noting that Emauel has been called a partisan attack dog. Obama made it clear during his campaign that he wants to unify America, which would make one expect that he would appoint more centrist figures, which Emanuel is not.

It is also becoming clear that perhaps Obama can not effectively keep some of those promises that he made during his campaign. A lot of his voters are under the impression that they will no longer have to worry about paying for certain bills, such as their mortgage or the gas they use in their car. Still others believe that they will receive checks in the mail based on Obama's tax plans, and some believe that they will have immediate and instant access to any type of health care that they want as well as unlimited welfare benefits. He plans on doing this while cutting taxes and lower the national debt.

The problem is multi-fold. First Obama can not possibly pay for the mortgage of every person in America nor can he pay the gas bill, at least not while lowering the national debt and cutting taxes. Obama also said that anyone making under $250,000 will not have their taxes raised, yet that number has since decreased to $200,000 and then $150,000. On the subject of taxes we also need to discuss the fact that people think they are getting a $500 tax check in the mail, however it is a $500 dollar tax credit which is much different than a $500 check in the mail (which also means that the people currently on welfare but unemployed will actually have to get a job to get this one, and that, at least, is a good thing).

As far as instant access to any type of health care, we only need to look to the Canadians who routinely come across the border to receive health care that they would otherwise need to wait for in their own country, Canada has the health care system that Obama would like to set up. However, some countries such as Thailand and India have some of the best hospitals in the world, some better than in America and they have very low cost healthcare. In fact most people do not have insurance, they simply have the equivalent of a Health Savings Account which allows them to pay for these procedures themselves, and at a fraction of the cost.

It seems that Obama was able to pull the wool over the eyes of many people, and by doing that he got many more people to vote who would normally not vote. Now that he has received the vote I believe the wool he pulled over the eyes of the uneducated masses will begin to fall apart and people will see his true colors.

The smoke and mirrors are already dissipating in Indiana, as campaign workers are angry over not yet being paid or not being paid the correct amounts, as promised. The following is as reported by WTHR Eyewitness News in Indianapolis.
Indianapolis - Lines were long and tempers flared Wednesday not to vote but to get paid for canvassing for Barack Obama. Several hundred people are still waiting to get their pay for last-minute campaigning. Police were called to the Obama campaign office on North Meridian Street downtown to control the crowd.

The line was long and the crowd was angry at times.

"I want my money today! It's my money. I want it right now!" yelled one former campaign worker.

A former spokesman for the Obama campaign said 375 people were hired as part of the Vote Corps program and said people signed up to work three-hour shifts at a time. Three hours of canvassing got workers a $30 pre-paid Visa card.

The workers showed up to get their cards Wednesday morning at 10:00 am.

"There was a note on the door saying 1:00 pm and then at 1:20 pm everybody was like why is nobody here. They just got here and they're trying to get it organized," said Heather Richards, a former campaign worker.

The large gathering of around 375 people prompted police to call in extra officers and set up temporary barricades. The barricades helped keep the crowd from spilling out onto Meridian Street. Police say the several hundred people in line were for the most part orderly.

"No arrests. Some of the people were upset at first because the line wasn't moving as fast as they thought it should. But we really haven't had any problems," said Major Darryl Pierce, Metro Police.

Eventually people did start getting paid, but some said they were missing hours and told to fill in paperwork making their claim and that eventually they would get a check in the mail.

"Still that's not right. I'm disappointed. I'm glad for the president, but I'm disappointed in this system," said Diane Jefferson, temporary campaign worker.

"It should have been $480. It's $230," said Imani Sankofa.

"They gave us $10 an hour. So we added it. I added up all the hours so it was supposed to be at least $120. All I get is $90," said Charles Martin.

"I worked nine hours a day for 4 days and got paid half of what I should have earned," said Randall Waldon.

Some people weren't satisfied with filling out a claim form for money they felt was still due to them.

"They say that they gonna call you or they going to mail it to you, but I don't know. We'll see what happens," said Antron Grose.

"Talking about they'll mail it to us. I ain't worried about that, man. They're not going to mail nothin'," said Martin.

Those people now realize that Obama could not follow through on his promise to pay a few hundred people for campaigning for him, how is he going to follow through on his other Socialist policies?

Only time will tell what will happen with Obama in the White House, his head full of Socialistic ideas, and being supported by people like Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, and Dick Durbin. My guess is that the public as well as the media will quickly turn against him as he is either exposed as someone who can not carry through with his promises, or as the public realizes that his plans also take away precious liberties.
