Some of life's most important things (to me, in no particular order)

There are a few things in life that a person finds important. These are the things that, without them, man would find it particularly difficult to get along in life. I believe they are the important things in order to laugh and enjoy life, to live and be successful, and to love to the best of your ability and in turn to be loved.

1. Family (and the friends lucky enough to be called family)

Okay so this is not my family or my friends but you get the idea. Family is important for all the obvious reasons, when all else fails they are there. You always have someone to turn to, and when you come home at the end of a bad day they are your counselor, your reality check, your shoulder. They will laugh at your jokes that are not funny, and they are honest with you. If you ever need an honest opinion ask your family, they tend to tell you how it is, and they know that they can because they are not judging, they are helping. Once you are married you have a different family obligation and your main duty is to your wife/husband and children. They are your world; no mater what else happens you have a duty to them. Family is indeed first and foremost.

2. Freedom and your Rights

This one is obvious. My rights are an absolute, they are non-negotiable and I will fight tooth and nail in order to defend them, not only for myself, but for you as well. I have vowed to always speak out against and take action on those entities that attempt to infringe on these rights. The Constitution lists (note it does not grant, rights can not be granted, they are already there) your rights and gives you some of the most important freedoms. You have the right to speak and publish information freely, you have the right to worship freely and securely, you have the right to assemble and to petition the government, you have the right to do this and much more and in order to protect those rights you also have the right to be armed. Millions have fought and died in order to secure these rights and it is up to you to make sure they are not infringed. If there is any doubt how much I am willing to defend these rights, remember who I am fighting for (see number 1 for a hint).

3. A Gun (and the 2nd Amendment)

Perhaps one of the most important to me, right up there with family, is a gun. A gun allows me to do many things, all that help my family. A gun allows me to hunt so that I can provide food for my family. A gun allows me to protect my family from anyone else who wishes to harm them, in my home or outside of my home. A gun secures my rights (see number 2) and allows me to defend them. If you do not have a gun, get a gun, if you do not want a gun or you are not willing to get a gun, are you willing to give up your rights and have some violent creep come into your home, take everything you own, and brutalize your family?

4. A Dog

This is not my dog, but this is the dog that I want. A dog is important for many reasons. They can bring a sense of joy and companionship. They are loyal to you as long as you treat them well. All they ask for is food, water, shelter and some love. In return they will be loyal to you, your family and no one else. They will protect you even it means they are harmed in the process. I love bloodhounds. They can hunt with me and I know they are loyal and do what they can to protect my family. Anyone who has ever heard a hound howl knows that it will wake you up out of the dead of night and a good hound will howl at anyone who is not that dogs family. So while I love these dogs for hunting I also love them because they will notify me before an intruder kicks in my door giving me time to grab Number 3.

Well that is all for now and this is not a complete list but it is a good list for me. I have family, friends, my rights, a gun and a dog. What else do I need at this point? Well I did not mention food or a home but those go without saying. Have a good day all.

Every D.C. Police officer now armed with a machine gun

Not long after the Supreme Court ruled that Dick Heller could indeed have a firearm in the District, the city passed emergency legislation that will further limit what firearms are allowed. Under current District law this is a machine gun.

Some of you who know about guns, or have seen a gun, or have even watched a movie where someone had a gun should be scratching your heads rights about now. If that is a machine gun than what is this soldier carrying?

Well that is also a machine gun of course. If you are confused you are not alone, so is the entire nation except of course DC Mayor Adrian Fenty, his administration and the City Council. Under current DC Laws the first picture, known to the rest of the world as a handgun, is labeled as a machine gun in DC because it "can fire more than 12 rounds without being manually reloaded" and "has a bottom feeding clip". While the rest of the world sees this as absurd the politicians in DC see no reason why a handgun should not, and can not be called a machine gun. According to the Merriam Webster dictionary a machine gun is defined as "a gun for sustained rapid fire that uses bullets; broadly : an automatic weapon". A handgun is a semi-automatic weapon, which means that when the trigger is pulled one time it only fires one bullet, not allowing for sustained rapid fire and the handgun will automatically expel the spent casing and reload as long as there are bullets in the clip, which makes it a semi-automatic.

I am not sure how logic seems to evade Mayor Fenty and the others in DC, however a quick look at that definition should clear up any doubts that this law is just another attempt at circumventing the Supreme Court's ruling about handguns.

This law and definition of a machine gun by DC may prove to cause some problems and raise some interesting questions. I ask one question to Mayor Fenty, why sir, are these DC police officers carrying machine guns on routine traffic stops?

It seems that Mayor Fenty and the elites in Washington DC have some explaining to do. Mainly, why the DC police are carrying machine guns on a daily basis, and when will this absurd definition be changed?

Dumbest (Almost) Naked Criminal

Okay readers, this one will have you all questioning exactly what types of genes are in the gene pool. On July 8 a Mr. Patrick Bishop robbed (allegedly, remember proven innocent until proven guilty but not necessarily smart) an Auto Mart in Hartford. No one was harmed in the robbery but it does not end there. Apparently Bishop's friends are smarter than he is because his getaway vehicle of choice was a silver Mongoose bicycle! If the stupidity only stopped there it would not be worth blogging about, however during the course of his getaway attempt he began to strip down to his underwear briefs and stuffed the money (stripper style) in his underwear along with his wallet. When the police apprehended him, which I am assuming was not a long or high speed chase, Bishop told the officers that someone who looked like him and was wearing the same clothes actually robbed him, leaving only the money and his empty wallet. I guess the empty wallet was his attempt at validating his story about being robbed. He was booked in Washington County Jail.

This guy wins the Darwin award for the day.


Improvements to my blog, games, chat and more

Anyone who has visited my blog recently has noticed some new changes that I am excited about. I am working on a new layout because this looks a bit sloppy, or I may just have to move some stuff around. Anyway, I want you to spend some time on my blog and have a good time there. The first few things you will notice. I have added a question and comment form on my blog, this is a form that you can submit and it will email it directly to me. If you do not want your questions or comments to appear in the blog itself this is a great option, and I look forward to hearing from you all. You can now also subscribe to my blog using feedburner which looks like this

You will also notice something called Fuel My Blog which looks like this

all you have to do is click on the black button where the arrow is in the picture and you can fuel my blog. This will move my blog up in the rankings and attract more readers for me. This only takes a few seconds. If you own a blog this is also important because if you leave a link to your blog in your comment when you fuel my blog I will make sure I come and read your blog as well. Better yet, you can also join fuel my blog and join the same community of bloggers.

You will also notice a chat box on the right side of the page. This has two functions, as a message board and as an Instant Messenger. It will allow you to leave messages visible there on the board as well as instantly chat with anyone else reading my blog at the time. You can even chat with me while I am there. There are a few more cool things happening with my blog including the ability to read my blog in other languages. If you look on the right hand side of my blog you will see different flags that you can click on to translate my page to your native langauge. So tell your friends about this cool feature and they can read it in any language they feel comfortable. I will looking to add more languages soon but right now there are 8 languages available.

And finally, I have added a game to my blog. I will be changing this game periodically but right now it is a java version of Super Mario Brothers 3! Scroll all the way to the bottom after all of my posts and you will find the game(s).

Awesome website "Giveaway of the Day"

As many of you know, I love new software that I can use with my computer to do various things. That is one of the reasons that I have an external hard drive, so that I can download more software without it slowing down my computer. The only thing I love more than new software is new free software. Now, because you are all my friends, I also want to offer new and free software to you, the readers of my blog. There are no strings attached here with most of this software, it is usually fully licensed versions that you can have for yourself. This is done through a website called "Give Away of the Day", and if you scroll down the page on my blog and look to the right you will see the html link to the free software. This button on my blog will tell you what free software is being offered that day and gives you the option to go to the website for more info and to download the software. No need to ever go to their website and try to navigate, you can just come to my blog take 30 seconds to check out what is being offered and decide if you want the free software that oyu will get because you are my readers! How awesome is that!?!

A few notes about the software however. Because this is free but fully licensed software there are some limitations, mostly things like no free upgrades to future versions and no technical support. Also, another tip before you download something that you may want, go to the website through my link and scroll down and read the reviews, sometimes there are things that you may encounter that other people have also encountered and the community of people there can answer. At times they will also tell you of better free software that may be available. I always find the comments to be very helpful.

232nd 4th of July..what does it mean?

232 years ago the first signature was placed on the Declaration of Independence. Perhaps some of the most famous lines from that document have so much power. One of my favorites is perhaps one that is often over looked, and certainly ignored by the government.

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created
equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable
Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of
Happiness. -- That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted
among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed,"

What powerful words those last few are, the government derives its power from us. Sometimes we forget that we are not controlled by the government, but that we control the government. However, we often give up so many of our freedoms and civil liberties because the government says they need to protect us. The government does not need to protect us, we need to protect our selves. We should not be afraid of the government, the government should be afraid of us, because we have the power to change the government.

"That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends,
it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to
institute new Government
, laying its foundation on such principles and
organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely
to effect their Safety and Happiness...
But when a long train of abuses and usurpation's, pursuing invariably
the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute
Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such
Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.

Look at those few words and think about what is happening in American right now. We are paying an illegal income tax, recently the government passed a law giving immunity to telecom companies which will allow for illegal wiretapping. Many of your Constitutional Rights are violated every single day and yet we continue to allow this government to operate. The Declaration of Independence says it is our right to abolish or alter a government when it becomes destructive (look at the economy and everything this administration has done) and that it is our duty to provide new guards for our future security.

Freedom is not easy to obtain or keep. Many of the people who signed the Declaration were captured, tortured, tried for treason by Britain and murdered. Many of their families were imprisoned or killed, many of them lost everything they had and they knew all of this could and most likely would happen if they signed the Declaration, and yet they signed it anyone valuing freedom more than their lives and their property. Most of these men were wealthy and educated and gave it all up for you and I to be free.

On this 232nd 4th of July, remember these things, go here to read about what happened to the men who signed the Declaration. Go read the full text of the Declaration of Independence. And go and read and know your Constitutional Rights, and know what they mean!

Remember these things the next time you must pay income tax, the next time the government attempts to pass an illegal wiretapping bill, the next time your rights are violated. Know what those rights are and you will see violations almost daily.

Freedom is hard to keep, and in this day, as our rights are being taken away, it is even harder to challenge the government for those rights. The government is strong and will make life hard if you challenge them, but a challenge is what they must have. You give them consent to govern you, they do not give you consent to be governed by them. You may lose it all, but you will gain freedom. I would rather die free than live a slave.

Samuel Adams said it best when he said:

"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude
better than the animating contest of freedom; go home from us in peace.
We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands
which feed you.May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity
forget that you were our countrymen."

Remember those words.

Woman Trades Sex for Gas

As I write this I am using a new blog editor so please bear with me. I am currently reading a July 2 news report from thesmokinggun.com about a Kentucky woman named Angela Eversole, 34, who traded sex with Kenneth Nowak for a $100 gas card for Speedway, as well as for some other gifts. The two were picked up by police at a Comfort Inn and Nowak is being charged with promoting prostitution while Eversole is being charged with prostitution and, get this, a charge for conducting business without and occupational license. I think the prosecution is stretching a bit with the last charge, I am not sure she can be charged for not having something that is not even available, but I digress on that point. A local prosecutor in Kentucky said that it is sad to see someone selling themselves for about 25 gallons worth of gas.

I think the sad thing is not that she sold her body for gas but that she had to sell her body gas. I do not blame her for doing it, she is the victim of a government, that for one thing has no business regulating what two consenting adults do with each other and for another has caused such a decline in the economy, and gas prices to rocket that people are resorting to having sex for gas. The government absolutely has no right to tell you or I what to do with our property, which includes our bodies and the government has no right to tell you what sort of labor you conduct in order to make a living, as long as those things do not take away the liberties of others. Am I advocating prostitution? Yes so long as it does not infringe on anothers liberties.

So I would say to that prosecutor, who has really committed the bigger crime? A woman who had to resort to sex to pay for gas, or a government who has caused this woman to resort to this, a government who has taken away this as with so many other liberties.
